Description: Located in Somerset, Weston-Super-Mare sits on the west coast of England in the north of the county. Weston was showing signs of becoming a large tourist attraction by the early 1800s but it was connection to the rail network in 1841 which led to large increase in tourists, mostly from Bristol, the Midlands and some from South Wales. Many buildings were constructed to deal with this influx of people and associated trade. Stone was used from the local quarry. In 1885, the Commerical Cable Company was established in the town, another large employer. In the Second World War, much of the town was focused on aircraft and pump manufacture to assist the war effort. Weston-Super-Mare was bombed by the Germans, as it was on the return route from Bristol.
