North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West, Midlands, London, East Anglia
Description: Located in Cornwall, Truro is the only city in the county. Traditionally focused on it's port, it later became the centre of the tin mining in the area. Tin was refined here, assessed, coined and sold. As technology improved, mining became more efficient and with prices rising too, Truro became quite wealthy. Truro expanded as a result, gaining ironworks, potteries and tanneries. In the 1860s Truro was connected to the rail network. Mining went into decline in the 1900s but Truro remained at the commercial centre of the county.
