Description: Located in Cornwall, near the north coast of the county. Traditionally a market town, Redruth boomed thanks to copper ore mined nearby in order to make brass. Population grew as a result and Redruth became a wealthy town. Mining went in to decline in the 1900s when the country began importing most of its copper. Many miners emigrated as a result.
