Description: Located in Cheshire, Chester, sits on the River Dee next to the border with Wales. It was heavily involved with cattle and once connected to the rail network (1848), the Chester canal (built in 1774) and the Ellesmere canal (built in 1805), later called the Shropshire union canal, built up a large cattle market. Chester also produced grain and had a leadworks.
