Description: Located in West Yorkshire, Hebden Bridge was traditionally part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Hebden Bridge is situated on the River Calder and the River Hebden. Hebden was known for it's water-powered weaving mills, producing clothing. As the textile industry grew, Hebden Bridge was connected to the Rochdale Canal and the rail network. In 1939 Acree Mill, an asbestos factory opened. They later produced rope and pipe lagging too. This led to a scandal regarding poor conditions which affected over 10% over workers from 1940-1970.
