Description: Located in Gloucestershire, Stroud is a town in the Cotswolds. Stroud came to prominence during the industrial revolution, focusing on the textiles industry. The sheep that grazed the surround hills were used for their wool in the local mills. Stroud was famous for its production of military uniforms. The Stroudwater Navigation and Thames & Severn canal gave the town sorely needed transport links. The textile industry remains today, but only in producing the green cloth used to line snooker tables.
