Description: Located in Greater London, Fulham sits in South London on the River Thames. It had a reputation as a retreat for the more adventurous wealthy in London with market gardens and nurseries. It produced large quantities of asparagus. Industry built up along the river in the 1800s, such as pottery production. Originally the parish of Fulham in the county of Middlesex, it became part of London in 1889. In 1900 it was renamed the Metropolitan Borough of Fulham. In 1965 it became part of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in Greater London.
