Description: Located in Greater London, Camden Town sits in North London. It is part of the London Borough of Camden. Camden became a residential area in the late 1700s thanks to Sir Charles Pratt and was named after the former owner of Pratt's estate, William Camden. In 1816, the Regent's canal was built which helped Camden to grow in both population and industry. Connection to the rail network grew the area further and employment built up around these areas. Originally part of Kentish Town and the parish of St Pancras in Middlesex, Camden Town was part of the Metropolitan Borough of St Pancras in 1900. It moved to the London Borough of Camden in 1965 as part of Great London.
