Description: Someone who worked in the textile industry specifically making the bobbins. The bobbin wound the yarn in specific patterns ready for weaving. There were many different types of bobbins used in weaving depending on the machine used and the type of cloth to be woven. Conditions in those mills were poor with aching head and limbs and nausea being commonplace, not to mention the over-crowding, the smell, the heat, lack of sanitation, the long hours and the repetitive, boring work.
