Description: The second world war was fought between the major axis powers of the Germany, Japan and Italy (although many other nations fought or declared war) against an initial alliance of the British Commonwealth (Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Canada, and Newfoundland all declared war independently), France, Poland and the Government in exile of Czechoslovakia, following the German invasion of Poland. Many other nations latterly fought and declared war including the Soviet Union and the USA.
