Description: The battle of Rafa took place on 9 January 1917 on the border of Sinai and Palestine and fought between allied troops from Britain, Australia and New Zealand and the Ottoman Empire. The battle was fought entirely with mounted allied units and was a continuation of the offensive to push the Turks out of Egyptian Sinai. The result was an allied victory with minimal casualties and allowed them to push into Palestine and head towards Gaza.
