Description: The battle of Cambrai was fought between Britain and the German Empire. The battle took place in November-December 1917 in Northern France and was part of the Hindenburg Line. It was a mixed tank and infantry attack by the British following a mass artillery attack. Initial advances were excellent but not all objectives were reached and as a result the Germans were allowed to counter-attack, regaining nearly all of their original ground and some new areas. The result was a draw, although a tactical success for both sides despite the 45000 losses on either side.
