Description: The battle of Aubers Bridge was fought between the German empire and an alliance of Britain and Indian forces in May 1915. It took place near Neuve Chapelle in northern France on the same ground as that recent battle. Preceded by a 40-minute bombardment, the British advanced across no-mans land. The majority never made it past a few yards as German machine-guns cut them down. The result was a disaster for the Allies. Casualties and losses for the British are thought to be about 11,000 in just one day.
