Description: The advance in flanders, also known as the 5th battle of Ypres, took place September-October 1918 in Belgium. It actually describes a series of small battles and was fought between allied troops from Belgium, France, Britain and United States and the German Empire. The result was a decisive allied victory, advancing some 18 miles over a 6 mile front. The British lost 4695 men.
