Description: The Napoleonic Wars were a series of conflicts fought amongst many European empires, nations and duchies but surrounding the French Empire. The terms used to describe these conflicts are debated, ranging from the French Revolutionary Wars to Peninsular Wars to Napoleonic Wars or combinations of them. Some say that the Napoleonic Wars did not begin until Napoleon Boneparte's seizing of power, or final outbreak of war between Britain and France, or Boneparte crowning himself Emperor. What can be certain is that the conflicts ended with the battle of Waterloo in 1815 and the return of the Bourbon monarchy in France. For the purposes of this site, the term Napoleonic Wars shall be used to describe all of these events ranging from 1793-1815.
