Description: The battle of Waterloo was fought between France and an alliance of Britain, Prussian, German, Dutch and Belgian troops. The battle took place just 2 days after Quatre Bras and with the Prussian army under Blucher in flight, Napoleon pursued Wellington's army. Wellington, assured that Blucher would join him, made a stand on a ridge near the village of Waterloo. The result was a resounding victory for the allies which saw the final defeat of Napoleon, although it was down to Napoleon's uncharacteristic ineptitude on the battlefield as much as British grit and determination.
