Description: The battle took place in 1798 and was fought between the British and French navies. The British, commanded by Horatio Nelson, attacked the French fleet at Aboukir Bay. The French had already landed thousands of troops in Egypt after Nelson had failed to intercept the huge armada previously. The result was a massive victory for the British, destroying 2 ships of the line, capturing 9 ships of the line, destroying 2 frigates and inflicting between 3-5000 casualties.
