Description: The battle took place in 1801 and was fought between the British and Danish navies. The British, commanded by Admiral Sir Hyde Parker but led directly by Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, attacked the moored Danish fleet which was protected by large batteries. The move came following Denmark's involvement with an aggressive, pro-French, Russia and their agreement to blockade all British shipping. The result was a resounding victory for the British and saw a reversal of Denmark's policy.
