Description: The battle of Inkerman was fought between Russia and an alliance of Britain and France. The battle followed the Russian defeat at Alma, and the formal siege of Sevastapol. With the city surrounded, the Tsar urged the Russian command to go on the offensive. The battles took place near the Tchernaya river, around Inkerman village and resulted in a Russian withdrawal from the field.
