Description: The battle of Colenso was fought between the Boers and and the British. The battle followed the besieging of Sir George White's force in Ladysmith and the arrival of reinforcements in South Africa under the command of General Sir Redvers Buller. Buller's first objective was to relieve Ladysmith. The British force advanced on the Boer position, centred around the town of Colenso. The battle resulted in a win for the Boers.
