Description: Formed in 1915 as the Welsh Guards as part of the Guards Division. During the First World War they fought at Loos, the Hindenburg Line, Somme (1916), Cambrai, the 3rd battle of Ypres, Somme (1918), Arras, and Selle. During the Second World War they served across the Western, African and Italian fronts, with some battalions becoming temporarily armoured. They were involved in the evacuation of Dunkirk and the invasion of Italy. In 1982 they fought in the Falklands War. Their nickname is The Taffs.
