Description: Formed in 1758 as the 70th (Glasgow Lowland) Regiment of Foot from part of the 31st Regiment. They saw action in New Zealand during the Maori War. In 1825 they were renamed the 70th (The Surrey) Regiment of Foot. In 1881 they formed the East Surrey Regiment of Foot after amalgamating with the 31st (Huntingdonshire) Regiment of Foot. In 1959 they were amalgamated with the Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey), forming The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment. Their nickname is the Young Buffs.
