Description: Formed in 1758 from a battalion of the 19th Regiment of Foot. In 1782 they were renamed the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot. In 1881 they formed the Princess Charlotte of Wales's Berkshire Regiment by amalgamating with the 49th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) (Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot. In 1885 it was renamed The Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment). During the First World War they fought in battles such as Mons, Marne, Aisne, the 1st battle of Ypres, Neuve Chapelle, Aubers Bridge, Festubert, Loos, the Somme (1916), the Hindenburg Line, Arras, Cambrai, the 1st battle of the Somme (1918), the 2nd battle of the Somme (1918), Selle and Passchendaele. In 1921 it was renamed The Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales's). In 1959 they were amalgamated, forming The Duke of Edinuburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire). Their nickname is the Biscuit Boys.
