Description: Formed in 1702 as Meredith's Regiment. They saw action in the Jacobite rebellion. In 1751 they were renamed the 37th Regiment of Foot. In 1782 they were renamed the 37th (North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot. They saw action in the Napoleonic war, fighting in the Peninsular Wars. In 1881 they formed the Hampshire Regiment after amalgamating with the 67th (South Hampshire) Regiment. Their nickname is The Hampshire Tigers or The Tigers.
