Description: Formed in 1662 as part of the East India Company. In 1668 they were renamed the Bombay Regiment. In 1839 they were renamed the 1st Bombay (European) Fusiliers. In 1862 they became part of the British army as the 103rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Bombay Fusiliers). In 1881 they formed the Royal Dublin Fusiliers by amalgamating with the 102nd Regiment of Foot (Royal Madras Fusiliers). They saw action in the Boer Wars, fighting at Colenso, Laing's Nek, Ladysmith, Spionkop, Talana Hill and Valkrantz and Pieters. During the First World War they fought across the Western, Turkish, Greek and Middle-Eastern fronts at battles such as Mons, Le Cateau, Marne, Aisne, the 2nd battle of Ypres, Loos, the Somme (1916), the Hindenburg Line, Messines, Cambrai, Passchendaele, Selle, Gallipoli, Salonika and the 3rd battle of the Gaza. They were disbanded in 1922. Their nickname is The Blue Caps or The Old Toughs.
