Description: Formed in 1759 as the 16th Regiment of (Light) Dragoons. In 1766 they were renamed the 2nd (The Queen's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons. In 1769 they were renamed the 6th (The Queen's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons. They saw action during the American War of Independence. They saw action during the Napoleonic Wars at the battle of Waterloo.In 1816 they were renamed the 16th (The Queen's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Lancers). In 1861 they were renamed the 16th (The Queen's) Lancers. In 1921 they were renamed the 16th The Queen's Lancers. In 1922 they were amalgamated with the 5th Royal Irish Lancers forming the 16th/5th The Queen's Royal Lancers.
