Description: Formed in 1858 in Bengal as the 3rd Bengal European Light Cavalry. Placed under the British Crown the same year and formally joined the army in 1862 as the 21st Regiment of Hussars. In 1897 they were renamed the 21st Lancers. In 1898 they were renamed the 21st (Empress of India's) Lancers. During the First World War they fought only in India. In 1921 they were renamed the 21st Lancers (Empress of India's). They were disbanded following this.
