Description: No. 99 (Madras Presidency) squadron was active from 1917. It was formed in Wiltshire and operated de Havilland DH9s on bombing missions. In 1919 they moved to India. In 1920 they were renumbered 20 squadron.

World War Two

Description: The number 99 squadron was reformed in 1924. It was comprised of Vickers Wellington and Consolidated Liberators aircraft as part of No.3 Group RAF. Flying missions in Norway and Germany, the squadron was moved to India in 1942 and then the Cocos Islands.
