World War One

Description: Initially part of the Royal Flying Corps, number 66 squadron was active from 1916. The squadron was comprised of Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c, Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2d, Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.12, Avro 504A, Sopwith Pup, Sopwith Camel, and B5402 aircraft. They took part in the following battles: the battle of Arras, the battle of Messines, and the 3rd battle of Ypres.

World War Two

Description: The number 66 squadron was comprised of Supermarine Spitfire aircraft, and took part in the Battle of Britain. With the German plan to invade Britain, the only thing that stood in their way was the Royal Air Force. During the middle of 1940 just a few hundred pilots managed to hold off the Luftwaffe and allow Britain and her allies to go on the offensive. They also took part in the Dunkirk evacuations, and the Normandy landings, part of Operation Overlord.
