Description: Initially part of the Royal Flying Corps, number 5 squadron was active from 1913. The squadron was comprised of a variety of aircraft, including the Bristol Scout, Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2 and the Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8. They took part in the following battles: the battle of Mons, second battle of Ypres, the battle of Loos, the battle of Arras and the 2nd battle of the Somme (1918).

Description: The number 5 squadron was comprised of Mohawk, Hawker Hurricane, P-47 Thunderbolt and Tempest II aircraft, and fought mostly around Burma.
