Description: Initially part of the Royal Flying Corps, number 57 squadron was active from 1916 in Yorkshire. The squadron was comprised of Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2d and Airco D.H.4 aircraft. They took part in the third battle of Ypres, also known as Passchendaele.They were disbanded in 1920.

World War Two

Description: The number 57 squadron was reformed in 1931 in Wiltshire. It was comprised of Hawker Hart, Hawker Hind, Bristol Blenheim, Vickers Wellington and Avro Lancaster aircraft. They performed heavy bombing and mine-laying missions.
