Description: The number 51 squadron was comprised of Virginia, Avro Anson, Whitley, and Halifax aircraft. Initially employed to drop leaflets over Germany, they some time hunting U-boats before joining No.4 Group and actively joining the offensive against the Nazis. They took part in the Normandy landings, part of Operation Overlord.
