Formed in 1943 in Hampshire from No.297 Squadron as a special operations unit. It was comprised of Lockheed Ventura and Short Stirling aircraft. It performed special operations duties. It was involved in D-Day and the battle of Arnhem as well as supporting the resistance movement in Norway. It was disbanded in 1946.
