Description: Initially part of the Royal Flying Corps, the number 11 (XI(F)) squadron was active from 1915, comprised of Vickers Gunbus, Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2, and Bristol Fighter aircraft. Unlike the other Royal Flying Corps squadrons, this unit was dedicated to fighting rather than reconnaissance. They took part in the following battles: the battle of Loos, the battle of the Somme, the battle of Arras, the battle of Cambrai, the second battle of Somme (1918), and the Hindenburg Line.
